lunch time took on a twist on may 20. instead of skipping it or eating a sandwich infront of the computer, we headed out to Au Petit Salut at Dempsey Hill for a little fete. just the two of us. it was my birthday. the weather was a bitch, it was hot and clammy, we could have swore we smelled burned grass as we meandered around looking for the french restaurant. nonetheless, spirits were high at the front seat of our 200-dollar-COE car (that sounded a little too smug... sorry). it was what a fair lady would call "lover-ly". i was famished, i wish we had ordered wine with lunch - that would have completed the gastronomic getaway experience. alas, work was piling as we rendeavoused on the hill. the least decent thing would be to remain sober after lunch. throughout the first 2 courses, eric kept reminding me to take pictures of the meal... his pleas were drowned by the growling of my tummy... and with a surfeited stupor was i able to snap these shots. it was all sweet. sweet sweet birthday with the person that's the most perfect gift to my life.
later in the evening, it was cake and presents time with my mom and christian. people i really wanted to be with. my mom gave me the most thoughtful gift ever - my very first framed wedding picture, ready to be displayed in our new home. (don't ask me why we didn't have any wedding pictures in our home.) and my mom-in-law sent me a card that was soooo sweet and hilarious. christian was all smiles that night - i bet he could feel love oozing out of my pores.
37 and counting, life is great from this vantage point.
