i know i said that i felt i was in a "zen" state just hours before. but get this, i actually jinxed myself...
(a) first, attended a meeting that totally undermined me through some arbitrary "rules". can't go into the specifics, but i asked whether the rules were a policy and the answer was "no". gave up trying to understand "fluidity" - i must have come across as snotty and not realized it.
(b) because of (a), i had to follow up with some paperwork and hence, late for a lunch appointment.
(c) rushed to the lunch place, relish at cluny court, and my lunch date was no where to be seen. guess she could have called or left me a message, right? wrong. why not? well, my phone had to totally die on me last night so i'm now completely uncontactable. and i have no blooming clue what her phone number is.
(d) when i was at relish, waiting for my lunch date to appear, i decided she wasn't coming at all after 45 mins and ordered myself a burger, while trying to call the phone service center to see if i could get it fixed today (using eric's cellphone). then, lo and behold, i realized that i have my pencil case, moleskine, and a bunch of notes for a paper i'm writing, but no wallet. searched the bottom of my purse and found a 2-dollar note. how am i going to pay for that burger. just then, the waiter brought my burger to the table. i was sandwiched between two tables, and i could hear every single conversation - naturally, i would never, in a snowball's chance in hell, tell the waiter that i forgot my wallet there and then. so i mustered as much grace and dignity as i can and walked up the the counter to explain it all - with a promise that i will try to search for loose change in my car and i needed my burger for to-go.
(e) good thing we had lots of change in the car (hunny, if you think you've been robbed when you get in to the car... you've been robbed by me). walked back to the burger place and paid for the burger. the host was nice to tell me that actually, i could just cancel my order. err, thanks, could have told me earlier???
(f) smiled and got my burger and walked back to my car. drove back to my office to retrieve my wallet. desperately needed to get away from my office and just have lunch in the peace and quiet of our home. parked the car, and waited for the elevator. drats, why are there 3 notices up on the elevator wall? 3 renovations are on-going, one across from the hallway, one directly on top of me, and one 3 floors below. so now all i'm hearing is "grrrrrrrrrrrr" - the drilling and my anger brewing are what economists called: unidentified.
(g) i'm getting out of here to hopefully get my phone fixed. please, let today be a good day...overall.
