Today, Sky had her Rite of Sending. It is an intermediate step to the sacrements of initiation (baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist) in which the congregation watches as the catechumens sign a book with their godparents. The rite is the congregation preparing the catechumens to be sent to see the Archbishop to whom the book will be presented. The Archbishop will then sign it.
The catechumens are now called the 'elect' since they have been elected to receive the sacraments.
PS The priests let Sky take Sky as her Christian name. Good thing for me because she already has too many names - I have to remember which one to use depending on whom I am taking with.
