munchkin

you know how cute names get you to buy things on impulse? like miu miu, kate spade and harajuku lovers? i found my favorite du jour ... munchkin.

there's an unofficial pact between eric and myself - for days that i have cabin fever, i'm allowed out of the house in the evening when he comes home from work. these special evenings, i'll drive to jelita which is less than a kilometer away from home (like a planet encirciling the sun on its elliptical path, i can't veer off too far away from the center of our universe).

on one of such special evenings, i find myself galivanting at the local grocery store's baby aisle. always on the lookout for easy solutions, i chanced upon a crib light that promises to soothe your baby when he cries. like all good marketing material, the baby on the box looks blissed out...and like all good researchers, i held back the impulse purchase and went home to google it. the result? like all good wives, i made an executive decision to get it today (i.e. nothing's gonna to stop me from getting it). like all good multi-tasking mommies, while i was rocking Christian, I was putting the batteries in this gadget with my toes. like all sleep-deprived beings, i promptly got bored and left it on the coffee table. like all good babies, Christian burst into tears without reason. like any good product, the crib light came on, right on cue. Christian's face changed for a second. Like all swifty opportunists, I grabbed that crib light and held close to his face. Like a miracle, my baby gave a little whimper and fell asleep!

i hope i don't jinx myself, but my prediction is that Eric will want to buy another one to hang around his neck the next time i get to go out on my special evenings.
