celebrating him :)

eric's birthday 09

it was eric's birthday May 28 <-- i know, i've been super delinquent in posting this. our birthdays are exactly eight days apart - which might explain why we don't forget each other's birthday EVER. there's a game theory element to this happenstance.

it was a good birthday - quiet, low-keyed and simple. Eric was pretty calm about turning a year older. and we had what i thought would be comfort food to him... pizza. da paolo makes one of the best pizzas in town. you could dial for a pizza but you gotta pick it up yourself. the dial-in was ideal for a mom with a new babe. so, that was a lifesaver.

and while my mom watched christian, i was able to go pick up eric from work. turned out we had some time before the pizzas were ready so we took a stroll in the neighborhood. i forgot how comforting strolls are. i forgot how good they are for the soul. it was like the good ol' days when it was just the two us - lots of snarky verbal exchanges - none of them too evil to be taken seriously and poking fun at merchandise contraptions at this store (which is really a wonderful store) <-- we must be quite annoying. about the picture... we didn't want a cake we couldn't finish so i ended up getting little confections. it could also be a hormonal decision - for whatever chemical imbalances my body produces, i'm extremely fickle and undecisive nowadays. (ask Eric!) the ugly brown "pebbles" are actually double choc cookies from da paolo dolci. ugly but super rich. i ended up eating ALL of them. one of the best things about breastfeeding is that you can eat a whale and still be hungry in 30 mins. so, i'm gastonomically feasting on any given day.

by the way, i didn't do it deliberately: taking such a close-up shot of his birthday candles so you can count them... that is, if you are as obssessed about counting as yours truly.

and yes, that's a "I heart Singapore" t-shirt he's wearing. i'll leave him to tell you if he wears his heart across his chest.
