the kind of mother/wife i am

we were discussing plans for mother's day when it dawned on me that i AM a mother too!!! i felt kinda kick-ass terrific when that EUREKA/ephiphany struck. kinda like i've earned my stripes and had joined the lofty ranks of mum/mom/ma (christian has taken to calling me "mimi" on his own, which is utterly cute and makes me feel like i'm one of his plush toys.)

we finally pulled the trigger and bought a flat screen tv (for the record, i'm always ra-ra-raring to go when it comes to buying for the home...). while we were at the counter waiting for the sales order to be printed, eric sighted a SGD$300+ krups coffee maker and said we'd get that if the industrial-strength one we've inherited from my mom died on us. in reply, i cooly remarked that i'd always dreamed of a francisfrancis and this is his retort "this is you, right? i just mentioned a name brand and you have to have something that i'd never even heard of." it was kinda funny when he said it (but now that i'd paraphrased and typed it out... less so). it was funny because it was so true. eric would NEVER, in the minutest snowball chance in hell, allow himself to be "swindled" by clever designs or gimmicky gadgets as long as valueformoney substitutes are available. and me? i'd save and starve for something that i set my eyes on. (and of course, eric thinks i don't save nor starve enough to justify anything i "love"; he has no sympathy for my 100-pound skinny ass). anyway, i now forgot why i had to relate this story here. it does give me a chuckle of two from typing it all out. it reminded me of the days of yore when we were at the priest's office for a session of (pre) marriage counselling: the priest asked us what we find annoying of each other. i forgot my answer but i remember eric's. it was about cream cheese. he said, as an example, that he had wanted to buy a store brand and i'd insisted on philadelphia. okay, so it wasn't about cream cheese. anyway, 4.5 years later we are still married and that's something to be grateful about. Remember Goethe's quote?

"Love is an ideal thing. Marriage a real thing."

Cheerio to the IDEAL and REAL!

The FrancisFrancis one is good! I tried it in London when making my rounds at Selfridges. heh. But I'm happy with the Krups if I can muster enough courage to fork out $300+ (I can't justify it as Meraj hardly drinks coffee - boo).

But oh pray tell - what TV - yeay for you!!!

And oh, it dawned on me that I am a mom when I received a Mother's Day card/offer from Crabtree & Evelyn. I was so ecstatic I was waving the flyer/card in Meraj's face..hahahaha.

Oh yeah I remember the cream cheese episode. funny, it does kinda sum up our different views! anyway, i think i said that Krups was a top of the line brand and that you were still able to name a better brand that I had never even heard of!!!
