having a 2nd child taught me something i never knew before - that it's possible to love more. love is not a zero sum game. you can love more; there's always room for more. christian is an amazing brother - he loves alex. and this is probably not something we consciously taught him. it's in him. he comforts her when she cries by giving her his favorite trains and trucks. if he doesn't have a toy with him, he'll hold her hand and tell her "不要哭，不要哭。”("don't cry, don't cry.") magnanimity could perhaps be taught, but i believe one is predisposed to have an abundance of it. he's a lovable boy in this aspect. he gives his hugs and kisses freely and i can't imagine a better gift for alex and christian than to have each other as their sibling.
