watching paint dry

this is sky. not eric. although, chances are you will see his name appear at the bottom of this post. this is my second post on the blog and i'm doing it on his computer -well, technically, it's my computer. he uses it, so it's his. i didn't want to use mine because the battery on mine went *kaput* and the reason i'm bloggin twice is because i'm dead bored here. if boring = watching paint dry, that's what i'm talking about. literally. i'm here with the painters - breathing in fumes and waiting for the paint to dry. christian and my mom were shipped to her place. frankly, the fumes ain't that bad. the waiting kills though. i could work. yeah. technically, i SHOULD be working. i'm working through this 1960s article that's putting my brain to sleep.

there are tons of things left to do in the house. eric's back on board which means that i don't have sole creative license anymore (boo) and that things are moving at a 2-persons speed whatever that means. but it's fun, we've been out shopping for furniture and that's like a dream come true - i know, i'm THAT lofty and shall we say, coquettish??? or should it be CORNY? - you know furnishing a home together, sharing the same vision.

contractors have been in and out of our home and hopefully this will end soon. looking back, the majority of the people we chose to work on our home has been pretty "professional". Having said that, we did have to ask them to come back a few times to get things right. By professional, it simply meant that they were willing to come back (God bless them) and they didn't pry cash our of our hands until we were satisfied with the job. They were also pretty prompt in answering phone calls - so, it's been pretty good so far. We did have a few hitches, particularly with the floor. And, the previous homeowners were pretty cheap when it comes to maintenance. we slowly discovered that the poor apartment hadn't been loved much and the upkeep was dismal.

i do have a laundry list of things i need to get done:
(a) address change for me
(b) address change for dog's license
(c) print out pictures and send them to mom in florida but more to come, mom!
(d) print out pictures to hang at home
(e) plant a herb garden
(f) design our walk-in closet
(g) design our balcony, we need to get new doors and gates so christian doesn't climb the kota mount kinabalu that's our balcony which is 10 floors up
(h) finish my article for the june conference
(i) finish revising now an article that i've been working for 3+ years
(j) plan for a new class i'm teaching
(k) plan the itinerary for milan and rotterdam <-- our vacation!

painters are back, i'm going back to my '60s article. damn.

p.s. hunny, i've not checked your email nor have i sent out mass invitations to our friends, despite the fact that i sorely want to throw another party :)
