10 days to go

according to the pregnancy counter, i've 10 days to go! wow!

a restful weekend proved to be such a salve to my very sore muscles... part of the fatigue is due to the fact that i've been giving non-stop presentations last wed. i've seen a physiotherapist in the beginning of my second trimester and it had been money well spent. it enables me to deal with the soreness i get now and then through simple exercises and observance of my posture. i can't wait to go back and start strengthening my core postpartum.

i'm still in the office - trying to get as much done as possible. the funny thing is that i'm seeing my documents in "dot-matrix"... something's gone wrong with my eyesight and i'm pretty sure it has to do with the pregnancy.

i'm also amazed that i got my to-do list done (i can't bring myself to delete this list on the right hand side - it's too much of a testament to a labor of love). last night, i started the preliminaries of sewing a crib sheet - hopefully, i'll get to finish it tonight :)

eric's been super wonderful this entire pregnancy - despite his heavy workload, he was able to run errands to get things done for little babe and christian. and that's the best gift we could ever give our children - a strong marriage and a commitment to keep it strong.

the countdown begins

we've reached 37w + 6d yesterday for our doc visit.... which makes today 38w! christian sent my water bag bursting at the ripe ol' age of 38w. let's see how little babe does.

doc measured her very round tummy and her head, estimated weight of around 3.2-3.3kg. seeing my horrific expression, he assured me it's the head size that mattered not the weight. phew, and her head measured 93mm (can't remember what it was, diameter or circumference)... and so, it ain't too big. double phew!

and it seems that she has pretty big feet, 72mm from the big toe to the heel... like her bro. why do our babies seem to have big feet, neither eric nor i have the peggy-hill genes.

most of the baby stuff is done - somewhat. it's time to focus on moi... and i really really love this epoch in the pregnancy when i'm so tuned up to my surroundings, and so in love with everything around me (tsk tsk - sappy hormones in overdrive). the hope is that baby stays in her cocoon for a little while, so daddy and mommy can have some time alone and do "couple-ly" stuff. today is the last day of school, aka daddy's stress level will plummet starting at around 6-ish pm.

p.s. mommy is 38w and weighs in at 60kg (no weight gain over the last doc visit).

35 weeks and 2 days visit

a belated post. we went to the doc and yay(!) baby is in the right position with her face looking at my right (left occiput transverse) . this is WAY better than the lateral position, which got me concerned because it was quite late in the pregnancy for her to be doing acrobatics to get the position right. as a desperate measure, i'd been trying out the breech tilt twice a day to hopefully tilt her in the right position.

i'm now obsessed with the weight gain because of the gestational diabetes and my worry that she'll get too big. my goal has been to keep the pregnancy weight to as close as my weight when i had christian. but well, each child is different... i just want to avoid fetal macrosomia. as of the last visit, she measured 2.8 kg (how how how???) and i weighed in at 60 kg. a lot of my weight gain has to do with fluid retention because i've been seeing it yo-yo-ing for a while. the doc realized that my ankles were swollen and my legs were extremely shiny (another sign of fluid retention). swimming helps with the retention but i could feel my pelvis was getting unstable and wanted to stay on the safe side.

rocker chick is still very active and we got to see more spiky hair - so impossibly cute.

she's ready to pop out of her oven anytime soon, since we've officially reached 37 weeks 2 days ago. she's been hiccupping a lot these days and practice contractions have slowed down. i panicked yesterday because the feeling that she's coming anytime now overwhelmed the heck of me all of her sudden. uh-oh, please don't come so soon, i have 1 presentation and 1 consulting job coming up on wed, and that consulting gig is easy $ that i don't wish to forego.

Latest pic of mei mei

She's very cheeky, like her brother, though in a different way.

postscript by sky: little babe grew (yet some more) she gained 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) and is estimated to be 2.5 kg (5.5lbs). she's huge! We know these are just estimates and plenty of times, these measurements are reportedly off - but her little round tummy and her head circumference have definitely grown. meanwhile, momma gained 200g within 1 month and weighs at 58.6 kg at 34 weeks... so how little babe put on the pounds was a little confounding... the bad news is that she's lateral, in a horizontal position, plus the fact that i'm sometimes having regular contractions (15 mins interval that lasts 1 minute each) was a little unsettling for the doc. to prevent pre-term labor (would have to be by caesarean if she remained in this position), i was prescribed ventolin (eeks) that gives me the jitters... i'm typing this with trembling fingers because of the drug. doc also prescribed rest. eh...doesn't go too well with my personality. in spite of feeling a little "uh-oh", it's always a joy to see her at the doc's. little babe looked really cute and had spiky hair. rocker chick, oh yeah!

weird dreams

i've been having weird dreams (nightmares) for 3 consecutive nights. please click away if you are squirmish... i got the creeps myself...

first dream: i dreamed i gave birth to a bunch of chicks (one died) and there was a little chick who was very sad that one died and i tried to comfort it. later, the chicks grew up to become cocker spaniel puppies and the home was invested with big fat ants because of the puppies.

second dream: i dreamed i was in so much pain and was bleeding.

third dream: i dreamed i passed out giving birth and when i woke up, my baby was so huge, but was a premie. she had teeth (!) and acne and i wasn't sure how to react to it. to top it off, she could walk... (manifestation of fitzgerald's benjamin button???? i shouldn't have read that story).

eric thinks it's stress... but, i don't feel stressed out at all !?! the only thing that changed for the past 3 nights is that i've been crocheting before i go to bed...

i'm officially spooked.
