we had a long weekend here and we decided to take a roadtrip to malaysia. we drove up to port dickson and stayed at the Avillion and before heading back, stopped at Melaka (and we daydreamed of buying a condo as our pied-à-terre - no, we are not rich, and yes, we were only daydreaming...) the weather was perfect and the kids were well-behaved (only in the car). we drove up with our friends... christian would not eat with them (wassup kid?) and threw a temper-tantrum at every.single.meal... i honestly feel bad for our travel companions and we are solely responsible for any and all heartburns in the restaurants. nonetheless, if you can believe it, we did have a good time.

(Re. the first picture, Alex refused to sit and watch me pack for the trip in her crib, so I moved her to the box seat and she was happy and contented.)

it was the chinese 清明节 and my family was planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur (KL) to pay respects to my grandfather who was buried there. i'd wanted to bring Christian and Eric to KL to honor my grandfather at his grave site but my mom thought it a bad idea. well, chinese cemetries are typically on hilly terrain (i.e. good Feng Shui) and hence baby-stroller/parents' arms/backs-unfriendly. Besides, the rest of the family would be making a trip to Genting and umm, Eric "sort of doesn't get along with Genting".

so we ended up making a road trip to Malacca with my uncles and aunts and for what it's worth - pit stop conversations and all, it was a fun little trip. the relationship before our marriage was built on road trips, so it's a trip down nostalgia lane for both of us. Christian came for the ride and was quite a good little soldier. we stayed at Holiday Inn, Melaka and checked into a room with a King size bed (good for toddlers), free internet (good for workaholics), daily breakfast (good for lazy parents) and a fantastic water view (was it the sea? I don't really know... anyway, good for a wandering toddler).

Christian had a whale of a time, he was playing with the hotel phone, yanking the cords, playing with mirrors, banging that picture window. He also acquired a habit of saying "bird - t", "boad - t", "t" "t" "t" and plenty of 下雨了 (which means, "it's raining" in chinese). I figure he's practicing new sounds with the "t" and a bunch of garbled lingo that sometimes sounds like Cantonese (I'm not Cantonese, if anything, he should sound like a Hakka.)

We are planning another road trip to Malaysia, wanna come along?
